Purvis Ltd. gets permission for building

Purvis Ltd. has received Planning permission to demolish its old warehouse in northern Hamilton and build a 180,000 square foot building - which will include office and residential space.

Victoria Place is said to be the first “green” building in Bermuda to be built by a local architectural firm to special environmentally friendly guidelines.

There will be a health club facility with squash courts, a bar restaurant facility with a sit down table service section, and a take-out service will be available,” Alan Gamble deputy project director for Purvis Projects Ltd., said. The building is also expected to contain facilities for service oriented businesses such as hi-tech operations. Purvis has received planning approval to build a small number of residential units. The next stage of development for Victoria Place would be demolition of the existing building on Victoria Street.

“We would anticipate demolition would start by the end of this month,” Mr. Gamble said.

Purvis is an old Bermuda company and has been involved in a number of businesses in the past include food importation, office equipment and supplies and security.
