Bermuda Regiment commanding officer Lt. Col. Eddie Lamb warned on Tuesday that the Bermuda Regiment will pull players off the football pitch if they have to unless the enlisted men turn themselves in to Warwick Camp.

?I have spoken to a few football coaches personally and they have committed to us,? said Lt. Col. Lamb. ?But it hasn?t happened yet.

Players on several prominent football teams have not shown up for Regiment duty, he said.

The Regiment has been out for the last week and a half arresting recruits who failed to turn up for medical exams at their places of employment, residences, and the airport. Lt. Col. Lamb did not have the exact numbers, but he said that the arrests were well into the double numbers by Tuesday.

To avoid the embarrassment of an arrest, more people have been turning themselves in to Warwick Camp, he said, though he added they were ?in dribs and drabs, not droves?.

If the Regiment still does not have enough men to fill its quota of 200 for boot camp in January, Lt. Col. Lamb said, they will continue the arrests until the quota is filled.
