Reporter caught up in drama

The car that was stolen from the Warwick area yesterday was flying down Harrington Sound Road being chased by Police as this reporter was returning to The Royal Gazette office in Hamilton yesterday.

The black Hyundai came screaming around the corner near Leamington Caves.

It was a blind corner and I had to go all the way over to the left into the trees to avoid being knocked off my bike.

I beeped my horn at the car and pulled over a small distance down the road.

Three undercover Police cars, sirens blaring, chased after the black car. A white sedan with a Police driver came screeching to a halt in a haze of burning rubber, narrowly avoiding a taxi coming the other way.

After a brief exchange the Police car sped away.

I turned my bike around and followed the cars and soon saw a taxi with glass all over the road and his passengers getting out of the cab.

They were not hurt, so I followed the road until I saw a car racing down Trinity Church Road.

Soon afterwards I was stuck at the crash scene on North Shore Road stuck like hundreds of other motorists who were at one moment minding their own business and then the next finding themselves involved in a high-speed chase.
