Return of the Blues — and it's not an April's Fool's Day joke . .

T<$>HE South is going to rise again and lovers of the Delta Blues will be treated to a showcase of talented performers tomorrow night at the Bermuda Folk Club. While the event falls on April Fool’s Day, there won’t be any pranks to be pulled, just down and dirty Blues performed by some of the island’s top amateur talent, which is sure to draw a crowd.

The Trott Road, Hamilton venue has been home to scores of performers and the intimate atmosphere has also been a stepping stone for the more established performers to rid themselves of any stage rust.

Some of the performers set for tomorrow night are Joy Barnum & Friends, Joe Bento and Kevin Ingham, Matthew Clifford, Michael Kilpatrick, ‘Ben-Jammin’ and other special guests.

One has to admit Kilpatrick sounds very close to crooner Faith Hill during her performances and it is always a treat to see this performer!

After the resounding success of Irish Night, the reminder for attendees to come early for the best seats has been repeated.

Sources within the Folk Club camp said the February Open Mic night and the Irish Night produced a record number of attendees.

Since the beginning of 2006, the Folk Club has expanded on the different genres being performed and this has paid dividends as the numbers of local performers and audience members has increased.

Don’t be surprised to see an impromptu performance towards the end of the evening when the free- form jamming takes place. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and showtime is 8 p.m. Admission is $8 for non-members and $5 for Folk Club members.
