Sailing legend makes Bermuda pit stop

Dodge Morgan (left) and Anthony Siese.

Legendary sailor Dodge Morgan left Bermuda last week after a pit stop during his regular shuttle between the West Indies and Maine.

In 1986 Mr. Morgan, 71, broke the record for a single-handed non-stop circumnavigation of the world in American Promise.

He also spends a lot of time going between Canada and South America but he has no around the world adventures planned. "That's enough. The Atlantic Ocean is fine. I will carry on sailing until I start drooling in my lap which is what I do but just occasionally."

He hooked up with Bermudian Anthony Siese, who he first met through ham radio during his 1996 voyage, for the trip.

"I contacted him on the radio, he came in and we met and we have been friends ever since," said Mr. Siese who has been on about 15 trips with the famous mariner.
