The family of young road accident victim Tyaisha Cox was filled with mixed emotions yesterday when her grieving loved ones attended a tribute in her honour.

Students and teachers at Victor Scott Primary School commemorated the life of the six-year-old and marked her passing with a special assembly in her memory on their first day back at school.

Among the people attending the assembly were her mother Margret Moor and stepfather O'Neil Moor, and other close friends and relatives who had gathered at the Glebe Road School to pray.

Tyaisha had attended the school and was looking forward to returning for the new term when she was killed in August.

She was making her way over the road using a pedestrian crossing outside Purvis Primary School in Warwick with her brother when she was struck by a car. Both children were making their way to summer day camp. Her brother was uninjured.

Tyaisha suffered massive head injuries and her life support machine was switched off the following day.
