A bomb scare at Saltus Grammar School yesterday forced students to stop classes for about an hour.

About 800 students from both the junior and senior school lined the field of the school just off of Woodlands Road in Pembroke while the Emergency Ordinance Disposal team searched the premises. The prank call came in around 2 p.m. and an hour later the Bermuda Fire Service, which had sent two trucks, were advised that the search was complete and the students were allowed back in the building.

"It was a minor inconvenience and we treated it as a fire alarm," said headmaster Nigel Kermode.

Several students were about to sit some of their GCSEs, which added to the inconvenience.

"It was just irritating," Mr. Kermode added.

On Monday, students at Mount Saint Agnes Academy were also forced to evacuate the school after a hoaxer called and claimed there were several bombs on the property.
