Opposition Senate Leader Kim Swan called for Government to get a grip on the Island?s sewage by investing in an effluent plant.
He said it was wrong to keep pumping sewage out to sea which could harm marine life and could affect water Government was planning to start converting into drinking water.
He said treated sewage water could be use to irrigate golf courses to keep them lush for tourists.
Being more sensible with water use was a process which should start now, argued Sen. Swan, rather than waiting for a crisis to occur.
