Senators yesterday paid tribute to Royal Gazette photographer Arthur Bean.

Mr. Bean, 41, passed away suddenly last Thursday. He was buried at St. Peter's Church in St. George's yesterday.

"He was a well-known photographer, it's very sad," said Opposition senate leader Kim Swan.

Mr. Swan told members how Mr. Bean would walk around St. George's every morning with his camera. "If there was something of note it would get caught on his lens," he said.

In fact, Mr. Swan said one day he persuaded Mr. Bean to photograph a dilapidated dock in St. George's. The photo was published and the dock quickly repaired. "It's not just using the camera to be in the right place at the right tie, but getting the theme of the photo," he said.

Senators Walter Roban, Leonard Santucci, and Larry Mussenden also joined in the tribute.

"Football was something he loved," said Mr. Mussenden. In fact, Mr. Bean published two books on Bermudian football players called "Players" and "Players 2". "He never photographed me though," joked Mr. Mussenden.

"He will be missed," said Mr. Swan.
