Sex pest claims he was just being friendly
Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves told a sex offender "I see you more than Jinx( Eugene Darrell)" before sentencing him to six months in prison yesterday.
Ibe Kiemo Joey Todd, 25, of Lightbourne Apartments, Middle Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Crown counsel Wayne Caines told the court that on August 21, the 30-year-old victim had gone out with a friend to several Front Street nightspots.
Todd approached her when she and her friend were their way to The Beach bar. He placed his hands on her waist and told her "I know you from Blue Juice". He then put his hands down the rear of her pants and felt her buttocks.
The victim twisted and told him to f*** off. He then grabbed a hold of her breasts and shoulders and pulled her to him.
The victim got away from him and they walked towards The Beach. When they arrived they were told to go to Hamilton Police Station to report the incident. Police later picked up Todd, questioned and detained him. He told officers that he was merely being friendly.
"I bumped into her," Todd said.
"I'm doing alright now. I'm helping my mum right now. I am sorry for the charges that I rendered upon the court and myself."
Mr. Caines told the court that Todd had been convicted for numerous offences including one in 1997 when he entered a woman's home.
Duty counsel Leo Mills said: "It is no doubt that he is nothing short of apologetic, take into consideration that it has been five years since his last offence. He has pleaded guilty to the offence and is employed."
Mr. Greaves said: "In order for him to behave himself he will need surgery.
"He was here in July for drawing a machete on someone. I come from a different culture where you call it as you see it. This man shows all the characteristics of a vagabond. I told you last time you should be a boxer.
"I need to get some rest from you, society needs a rest from you. Six months in jail."
When being led from the courtroom Todd slapped his newspaper on his hand and said to Mr. Greaves: "You are going down."
