Bermuda was the closest port in a storm for passengers in the cruise ship, Grandeur of the Seas as she retreated from hurricane activity in the Caribbean to Bermuda.

The ship spent yesterday at the Royal Navy Dockyard.

Joe Simas of Meyer Shipping told The Royal Gazette last night that "due to the tropical storms the ship has diverted here".

Her voyage was supposed to be from Baltimore to Haiti.

She is scheduled to leave the Island today at 1.30 p.m.
