About 12 catering staff at St. Brendan's Hospital went on a sit down strike yesterday in protest after one of their colleagues got locked inside a freezer.

The freezer had a faulty inside door handle and was being repaired, according to a hospital spokesperson.

But a staff member got trapped in it for 15 minutes yesterday, sparking concern among colleagues.

Catering staff staged a sit-down strike at around 9 a.m. St. Brendan's Chief Operating Officer Patrice Dill met with the staff members and they returned to work by lunchtime.

Bermuda Industrial Union president leader Derrick Burgess would not comment on the matter except to say that it had been resolved satisfactorily.
