St. David's 'connector' under-utilised
The Public Transportation Board has cancelled its St. David's/Southside late night connector shuttle bus service due to lack of riders.
The late evening service began on May 10 but ceased service at the end of last month.
During its operation, the shuttle ran from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. to supplement the No. 6 St. David's bus and the regular Southside shuttle bus service.
The route covered Orange Hole Road, the Number One Gate in St. George's and Clearwater Beach.
PTB director Dan Simmons said in recent Press release:the Southside service was just another of many initiatives the Ministry of Transportation considered for the benefit of those who use our public transportation services.
"However, the service was under-utilised, and as a consequence, we had to discontinue the service."
Mr. Simmons said that the regular morning through late afternoon Southside/St. David's shuttle service is still fully operational and serves the public daily.
