Engine details of a car stolen from an 84-year-old woman at the weekend have been sent to body shops across the Island.reported yesterday how Joan Wilkie had her purse swiped from her car by an opportunist thief on Saturday evening.

That purse contained a locking device for her new car, which was stolen from her Pembroke driveway hours later.

Mrs. Wilkie?s daughter, Annabella Fraser, said checks with the Transport Control Department revealed the engine number of the Nissan March was 058904. The chassis number was BAKI2Z000555.

She said that body shops across the Island had been given these details in case the thieves go to them and ask for work to be carried out.

The Nissan, registration 06780, was a distinctive ?blueberry? colour.
