Storm troopers!

Finding their way: Soldiers from the Bermuda Regiment spent the weekend at Belco familiarising themselves with the site in preparation for the hurricane season. Photo David Skinner

Soldiers from the Bermuda Regiment took part in a weekend exercise at Belco to prepare for the incoming hurricane season.

A number of recruits spent time familiarising themselves with the site should a severe hurricane or storm hit Bermuda and take out the Island's electric power.

Spokeswoman for Belco Linda Smith-Wilson said: "It's just a training exercise. They do it every year to prepare for the hurricane season.

"They do it to find out where things are at Belco, such as the control rooms, in case Bermuda is hit.

"During Hurricane Emily there were troops stationed at Belco and they did a lot of the preparation work so the crews could get in and make the repairs."
