The widow of Dr. John Stubbs ? the MP who steered the bill legalising gay sex through Parliament ? attended yesterday?s pro-democracy rally in his memory. Robin Stubbs condemned the silence from MPs who did not debate Rene?e Webb?s private members bill to stop discrimination against gays. However, she also criticised Ms Webb for not lobbying MPs beforehand.

?I?m appalled by the action of the MPs. I believe if my husband had been here it would not have happened like this,? she said. ?He did a lot of work and lobbying.?
