The Island?s bus shelters may never be the same again.

Students from Spice Valley Middle School on Middle Road, Warwick, have transformed a bus shelter near the school into a colourful tiger with giant paw prints.

Works and Engineering gave the school permission to makeover the bus shelter and the students did such a good job others may follow suit.

Teacher Carmen Mitchell told : ?The tiger was chosen because it is the school mascot and the different coloured paw prints represent house colours.

?The school does a community service day once a year and this year Sergeant John Clutterbuck suggested painting the bus stop,? added Ms Mitchell.

?It is the first one to be painted and if it goes well more murals may be done and schools may have a painting competition,? said Ms Mitchell.

Student Che Caines, who came up with the design, said: ?I thought of the school colours then thought of paws. Then I designed a face for the tiger and wrote in bubble letters over it ?Spice Valley Middle School?.?

Ms Mitchell said: ?I decided which students would paint according to whether they liked art and were energetic.

?They had to agree to stick with it and if they didn?t co-operate then they were gone,? she added.

Student Joshua Giraud, who was told to leave for not co-operating said, ?It?s like ?Survivor? because you can get voted off.?

Baptiste Builders Supply Ltd. donated the white base paint and paint brushes, while Gorham?s Ltd. gave a 15 percent discount on the coloured paint.
