Students thrive in business setting
Young Bermudians showed their business acumen at this month?s BizTech BizCamps.
The BizCamps were run by Joseph Mahoney, a consultant for the Institute for Youth Enterprise in Boston.
Over 50 students between the ages of 13 to 18 attended the camps where they were taught how to put together a business plan.
?We teach the kids to look for an opportunity that fits their skills, hobbies or interests,? said Mr. Mahoney. Students were also required to conduct surveys, produce marketing strategies and develop goals for their individual companies. Many of the students conducted PowerPoint presentations of their business plans. Telecommunications and E-commerce Minister Michael Scott said he was proud of the students and described their presentations as ?just wonderful?.
?We try to teach them to give back to the community,? Mr. Mahoney said.
