A pump in the facility room at CedarBridge Academy caught fire just after 8 a.m. yesterday.

Lieutenant Dana Lovell of the Bermuda Fire Service said quick-thinking security guards at the school put the fire out with nearby portable extinguishers. It is believed that an accidental fault in the pump sparked the blaze.

A second fire occurred Tuesday night at Bermuda Waterworks.

Lt. Lovell described the container fire at the company Watlington Road as "suspicious".

It took five firefighters 23 minutes to put out the blaze. The contents of the container were destroyed and damage is estimated at $10,000.
