Government revoked a taxi driver's licence this weekend after a member of the public complained about their behaviour.

Government Information Services (GIS) said the Public Service Vehicle Licensing Board decided to take away the licence at a meeting earlier this month but didn't release further details because the driver is appealing the decision in Magistrates' Court.

Transport Minister Dr. Ewart Brown said: "Due to the serious nature of the complaint, the Board concluded that they had no option but to cancel the taxi driver's public service vehicle licence."

GIS said the Board was "unwilling" to release any more information but added: "The Board would like the public, taxi owners and taxi drivers to know that they take all complaints against taxi services very seriously, and they will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any taxi owner or driver if the circumstances warrant."
