A habit of stealing technology has landed a 38 year old in prison for 12 months.

Warren Dean Conrad Mallory, of Swansbury Hill, Pembroke yesterday admitted three charges of breaking and entering. Magistrates? Court heard that on March 31 Mallory broke into the Family Resource Centre and stole a lap top computer valued at $2,000 and a palm pilot valued at $600, which belonged to Sheelagh Cooper.

He admitted to breaking into The Bermuda High School for Girls on April 16 and stealing a Dell laptop computer with computer bag valued at $2,000, a DVD worth $120, and a zipdrive worth $50.

On April 20 he broke into Saltus Grammar School and stole a Dell laptop computer with accessories valued at $2,070 as well as a TechSoft 2b Design CAD Program CD valued at $60.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman told the Court that Mallory admitted to all three charges during a Police interview.

?We believe a custodial sentence is in order, he has a long record of breaking and entering.?

Mallory said in his defence: ?The first two things were stolen from me.?

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves read through Mallory?s lengthy record and said: ?You like schools.?

Mr. Greaves sentenced Mallory to 12 months in prison for each count to run concurrently.

?I am taking into account his record which in my opinion attracts the maximum sentence at Supreme Court level.

?However, I am giving a discount by taking into account his guilty plea and not committing him to Supreme Court.?
