A youth has pleaded guilty to trespassing after he admitted entering a woman's house and falling asleep on her couch.

Lamont Winston Marshall, 19, was still asleep when the Police arrived to escort him off the premises.

The incident took place at the weekend when the complainant, a Pembroke resident, was awakened at 5 a.m. to see Marshall, of Valley Heights Road in Devonshire, enter her house and fall asleep on the couch. “That happened because I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing, your honour,” Marshall told Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves.

His father, Larry Marshall, explained that his son had been drinking with a group of other youths, including a girl who lived in an apartment above the complainant's.

It began to rain, he said, and the youths rushed inside, however Marshall had to park his bike, and was unaware that the rest of the group had gone upstairs. “He just went into the wrong apartment, your honour,” Mr. Marshall explained.

“Why were you drinking so much?” Mr. Greaves asked. “It was the weekend, sir,” Marshall replied.

Concerned about the youth's drinking habits, Mr. Greaves gave him a conditional discharge but also ordered a Social Inquiry Report to look into the matter. Marshall was bailed for $500 to reappear in Magistrates' Court on November 26.
