Teenager is charged with double murders

A second man was charged yesterday with the murder of St. David's residents Maxwell (Buckshot) Brangman and Frederick Gilbert.

Eighteen-year-old Darronte Lavar Dill, of Fentons Drive, Pembroke, appeared in court charged with the September 21 murders.

He is alleged to have acted alongside 40-year-old Roger Eugene Lightbourne, of Tommy Fox Road, St. David's, who appeared before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Lightbourne, however, was charged with Mr. Brangman's murder only.

Neither man was required to enter a plea to the charges, which will be dealt with in the Supreme Court.

Mr. Brangman's body was found near the Black Horse Tavern in St. David's in the early hours of September 21. Firefighters arrived to extinguish a fire at the small concrete hut where Mr. Brangman is thought to have been living.

The body of Frederick Gilbert, Mr. Brangman's friend who was also homeless, was found floating in the water at nearby Great Bay at about 8.45 a.m. on Monday.
