Two teenagers who breached their probation by fighting on Saturday night were sent to prison yesterday in Magistrates? Court.

Ezra Ezzard Williams-Ararat and Ahijah Dill, both 18 and both on probation for similar offences, were charged with violently resisting arrest on Sunday morning.

Williams-Ararat, who had a slashed face and was bandaged up, pleaded guilty to violently resisting arrest, with an explanation.

He said: ?I had had an argument with this guy a few days ago and then he came and slit my face open with a bottle. It wasn?t my fault.?

The court heard that at the time of the incident, Williams-Ararat should have been at home observing his curfew, which was from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

He apologised to the court for not observing the curfew.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves said: ?You look worse than Saddam (Hussein) this morning.

?You two have had so many chances, both of you will spend Christmas in jail. So have a Merry Christmas.?

Crown counsel Shakira Dill said Police arrived on Court Street at 1.50 a.m., where officers were informed that a fight might occur inside of Tiffany?s Twenty Four Seven.

The pair rushed out of the shop and were fighting in the street, but both violently resisted arrest.

The probation officer recommended that probation be revoked and the pair sentenced.

Mr. Greaves sentenced Williams-Ararat to six months in prison and Dill received 12 months for his offences and his attitude in court.

Mr. Greaves had asked him to stand up, but Dill refused and said: ?I ain?t got to stand up.?

The pair had been on probation for a series of offences, which included obstructing Police, being in possession of offensive weapons, threatening behaviour and using offensive language.
