A second former Saltus Grammar School student was one of the victims of last year's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Yesterday the school announced that American Robert Dale Warren Higley II, 29, was working with Aon Risk Management Services on the 92nd floor of the South Tower on the morning of September 11. He did not survive.

Mr. Higley's family had moved to Bermuda in the 1980s as his father was then working in the reinsurance industry.

Yesterday, Saltus headmaster Nigel Kermode said: "Our records indicate that Rob spent three years in the Saltus junior school.

"In going through old yearbooks, we've found that Rob placed in the Triple Jump, was the J6 winner at Sports Day in 1983, passed Grade 1 Theory in Music and won a prize in the Easter competition for his kite.

"He was, apparently, what we would term an 'all around boy'."

Mr. Kermode said Alicia Varney Delp - a former Bermuda High School for Girls student who's brother was a close friend of Mr. Higley's - alerted the school of his death.

According to the Aon memorial website, he was devoted to his family and had many friends.He enjoyed mountain-biking and camping and was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Mr. Higley is survived by his wife Vycki and two young daughters - one of whom was born two months after the attack.

The baby was named Robyn in memory of her father. The family were living in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Former Saltus student Boyd Gatton was one of two Bermudians killed in the attacks - along with Rhondelle Tankard, an Aon Bermuda employee.

Mr. Gatton was working at Fiduciary Trust International in the towers when they were hit.
