The problem of Bermuda's congested roads was brought home to one car thief yesterday ? when the stolen car he was driving was spotted by its owner as it sat stuck in busy commuter traffic.

A Police spokesman said that the car owner reported the theft of her vehicle on Monday afternoon.

Then, at about 8.20 a.m. yesterday she was travelling into Hamilton by bus when she noticed her stolen vehicle idling in commuter traffic on Middle Road near the Elbow Beach Hotel.

The bus driver let her out, she ran to her car, forced the door open, and told the man driving to get out.

The surprised driver was able to get out and escape on foot, allowing the woman to get behind the wheel and continue her journey by car.
