Premier Alex Scott was ordered to shave his trademark beard by the Regiment Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Edward Lamb if he wanted to be part of the Regiment, he reported yesterday.

?Now what is his excuse,? the Premier, sporting a clean shave and a Bermuda Regiment tie, during yesterday?s press conference to update the public on his recent trip to the Caribbean.

Governor Sir John Vereker, the Premier and Home Affairs Minister Randolph Horton visited the Bermuda Regiment during training exercises in Jamaica.

?I wouldn?t have followed that order,? said Mr. Horton when asked why he wasn?t ordered to shave off his beard.
