Three hospitalised after vicious weekend assaults

Police are looking for two groups of men who viciously attacked and beat their victims in two, unrelated incidents early on Saturday morning.

A 25-year-old Pembroke man was attacked by a group of thugs who sprayed a fire extinguisher in his face and kicked him all over his body around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Police said.

One of the man?s friends, a 33-year-old Smith?s man, went to assist but was also attacked by the group of men before the suspects made their escape.

The group of men were also alleged to have brandished a knife during the incident

The attack took place at 3 a.m. Saturday following a function on the premises of the Devonshire Recreation Club on Frog Lane in Devonshire. Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Earlier in the night, another attack took place at the Swinging Doors night club on Court Street when a 56-year-old Pembroke man ? who was trying to enjoy a quiet drink with his wife ? was attacked by four men and punched all over his body. The man had noticed a group of men in the bar standing behind him talking loudly, but when he asked them not to speak so loudly one of the men punched him in the head while the other three jumped in to join in the assault, striking him all over his body with a chair.

The man fell to the ground and was kicked about by the suspects before they made their escape.

The Pembroke man was treated at KEMH for bruising about the body and to his right eye and released.

The suspects are described as four brown-skinned males, approximately six feet tall, of slim build, wearing baggy clothes.

Police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information on these incidents to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
