Tidal pool trouble

No place to go: A Portuguese Man 'O' War, notorious for its very painful sting from its long tentacles, which occasionally reach 165 feet in length below the surface, sits stranded in a tide pool on the shoreline of Spanish Point Park. The stinging tentacles can paralyze small fish and other prey. Detached tentacles and dead specimens can sting just as painfully as the live creature, and may remain potent for hours or even days after death or detachment of the tentacle.
