The Public Service Commission announced that the former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Khamisi Tokunbo has been appointed to the a new post of Assistant Cabinet Secretary of Legislative Affairs.

Mr. Tokunbo is responsible for managing and facilitating the Government's legislative programme, undertaking research, advice, assistance and support.

Up until April, Mr. Tokunbo served as the Director of Public Prosecutions until he lost the job and the post was taken over by the new acting DPP Kulandra Ratneser.

Mr. Tokunbo initiated - but later discontinued - legal action when Governor Sir John Vereker decided to advertise his job and not renew the three year contract.

However, it is understood that the contract specified that should it not be renewed he will continue in the civil service at a rate of pay not less than the $127,000 he received as DPP.

Mr. Tokunbo continues on in service to the Government, where he has spent all but 18 months, spent in a private practice, since his career began.

Mr. Tokunbo was educated in Central State University Wilberforce, Ohio, he attained his law degree at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) which is part of the London University Colleges, and is a member of The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in London, England.
