Tourism campaign targets students

A new campaign aims to boost appreciation of the Island?s hospitality industry among young Bermudians.

The Department of Tourism launches Annual National Youth Tourism Day on May 26, when dozens of students will get involved in the industry for a day instead of going to school.

A promotional drive to attract students to sign up for the day off class kicks off today ? and it is hoped that up to 400 potential hotel bosses and chefs of the future will register.

Students will be introduced to workers for an insider?s perspective during the sessions.

Tourism Minister Ewart Brown said: ?Over the course of the last generation, the focus in Bermuda has shifted away from tourism, and we want to remind every Bermudian, especially our younger ones that the world of tourism affects all of us.?
