Tourism Minister issues Diaspora reminder
Tourism Minister David Allen on Friday reminded members of the House of Assembly about the upcoming conference on the African Diaspora Heritage Trail.
The three day conference will take place at the Fairmont Southampton Princess hotel beginning this Saturday, May 25. It will feature music, dance, graphic arts as well as educational talks and lectures.
Mr. Allen said: "The conference is designed to launch the African Heritage Trail as a cross-border tourism initiative embracing both sides of the Atlantic, from Africa to Bermuda and the Caribbean."
The theme of the conference is 'Tourism unites nations through peace, culture and heritage'.
Attendees at the conference will include tourism ministers and delegations from the Caribbean and Africa as a well as African American travel agents, representatives of the World Tourism Organisation and Africa and Caribbean travel associations.
There will also be workshops on how the trail can be incorporated into a viable cross border cultural tourism initiative.
The public are invited to the gala opening ceremony of the conference on May 26 where a complimentary breakfast will be served.
