Tourism sounds off in New York
Top US media figures were wooed by the Department of Tourism on Wednesday night at a rooftop jazz reception in New York.
The event was held on the roof garden of Tourism's North American advertising agency Lou Hammond and Associates to promote this year's Bermuda Jazz festival.
Saxophonist Mike Phillips played to audience which included editors from Conde Nast Traveler, Town & Country, Food & Wine, Elite Traveler, Bride's, Black Diaspora, and WQCD-FM, America's most listened to jazz station.
BET Jazz, which is promoting the festival, filmed the event and it was expected to appear on the station's news bulletin last night.
The line-up for the festival, which runs from October 8-12, includes Kenny G., Natalie Cole, Stephanie Mills, BeBe Winans, Regina Belle as well as Freddie Jackson and Mike Phillips.
"We were pleased to have had such a great turnout," said Tourism Minister Renee Webb.
