Southampton residents failed to support the a planned Imagine Bermuda 2009 ?town hall? meeting called to encourage community-wide discussion.
The meeting was cancelled last night at Port Royal school after no one showed. Organiser Glenn Fubler said: ?We were in touch with people but they just didn?t turn out.?
Imagine Bermuda 2009 is a group of residents who have begun a series in the parishes of Bermuda using a technique called appreciative inquiry with a view to facilitate conversation involving all sectors of Bermuda?s diverse community. Imagine Bermuda 2009 has its organisational eyes on the 400th anniversary of the settling of the Island and the 50th anniversary of the Theatre Boycott. There have been meetings in St. George, Sandys and Hamilton Parish.
?This was the last meeting before the summer,? he said, hinting at more activities available to residents during the summer months.
?We will begin again in September.?
The meeting was suppose to begin at 7 p.m. but at 7.45 p.m. after a failed attendance, Mr. Fubler, Senator Reginald Burrows and group member Claudette Flemming cancelled the meeting.
?This is an experience for us,? Ms Flemming said. ?Everytime we go places it?s a different experience.?
Despite the lack of turnout, the organisers said they are not disappointed and they will return with new strategies.
This diverse group includes Michael Ashton (co-chair), Glenn Fubler (co-chair), Wendy Davis-Johnson, Martha Dismont, Susan Douglas, Sara Fellows, Janet Ferguson, Claudette Flemming, Fred Hassell, Francine Mason, Rosemary Phillips and Ann Spencer-Arscott.
