Traffic hurts Swizzle business
Businesses around Blue Hole Hill have been devastated by the backlog of traffic all day caused the Causeway only being open one way, Swizzle Inn owner Jay Correia said yesterday.
Long lines of traffic as far back as Bailey's Bay mean few people are getting out to use the Swizzle, Causeway Shell gas station, the ice cream parlour and glass-blowing shop, he said.
Mr. Correia said he is so desperate for business he is thinking of taking telephone orders and rushing food out to waiting cars.
"You might see me getting a pair of skates on and whizzing up and down the lines," he said. "If it works, it works."
Mr. Correia's foreign staff are taking longer vacations, but so far none had chosen to go home for good, he said.
"We are really struggling to keep people working. We all have power but its really tough and gas station just has a skeleton staff."
