Billionaire communications entrepreneur Michael Bloomberg, who owns a home in Tucker's Town has won out as the Republican mayoral candidate in New York City.

In elections held on Wednesday Mr. Bloomberg beat his opponent Herman Badillo with 72 percent of the vote.

But Mr. Bloomberg may have to face another fellow Republican and current Mayor Rudolph Giuliani if a campaign to find ways to put his name on the ballot succeeds.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party has scheduled a runoff for October 11 to choose between Mark Green and Fernando Ferrer.

The election for the new mayor is scheduled for November 6.
