Two men were arrested yesterday after a surprise daylight baseball bat attack on two other men.

Police responded to a report at approximately 11.30 a.m. of a disturbance outside the Church Street area between the Anglican Cathedral and the MarketPlace supermarket.

Police media relations spokesperson Dwayne Caines said it appeared that two men wielding baseball bats left a truck and began attacking two other men that were in a truck parked on Church Street.

?Details surrounding the relationship between the individuals involved in the incident are unclear,? he said. ?However, Police responded in force and the perpetrators of the attack were immediately arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.?

The two victims are believed to have sustained superficial injuries, not considered life threatening. ?There were no hospitalisations at this point,? Mr. Caines said.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact Central CID at 295-0011.
