Two club-goers were chopped with machetes in a vicious attack on Reid Street yesterday.

One of the victims ? a 24-year-old Paget man ? was cut on the back of his head and treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said he was in a satisfactory condition on a general ward last night.

The other victim ? a 26-year-old Pembroke man ? was also in a stable condition in KEMH after he sustained facial injuries.

Police are seeking two machete-wielding youths both from Pembroke aged 26 and 24, who fled the scene on a silver scooter.

The attackers were last seen travelling towards King Street.

Police said the assault took place outside Champions Private Sports Club on Reid Street at around 4.15 a.m.

"It appears the fight took place between a few men outside the club and it is believed a bladed weapon was used in the attack," Police said yesterday.

Inquiries are underway.

?A robber asked his victim for a cigarette before he was punched in the head three times, dragged behind a parked car and had $450 in cash stolen from him.

Police said the robbery took place at around 7.30 p.m. on Friday on Brunswick Street in Pembroke .

"The victim, a 44-year-old Smith's man was walking towards Cedar Avenue when a man whom he is familiar with asked him for a cigarette," Police said yesterday.

"As he gave the acquaintance a cigarette, another man punched him in the back of the head."

After the first punch, both men dragged the victim behind a parked car, where he was punched in the head twice by an unknown man, Police said.

The men stole $450 and a gold ring, Police said, before they escaped by foot.

One suspect was described as a light skinned male, about 5ft 9in, of slim build with side burns, a moustache and a beard, it said.

A second suspect was dark brown-skinned, about 5ft 9in, with a close hair cut, clean shaven, wearing khaki pants and top. Inquiries are underway.
