An early morning collision between a car and taxi landed both drivers in hospital and left both vehicles with extensive damage.

The collision occurred on Middle Road in Paget near Dudley Hill at around 1.25 a.m. on Friday. Police report that the taxi was driving eastward on Middle Road when it collided with the car travelling west.

Fire services had to rush to the scene to remove one of the victims who trapped inside his vehicle.

Both the taxi driver, a 58-year-old Pembroke man, and the car driver, a 36-year-old Warwick man, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to cuts to their arms and legs. Both were released.

Traffic in the area had to be diverted from the scene for several hours, Police said yesterday.
