A propane stove explosion landed two in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with first and second degree burns.

The explosion took place on Friday at about 10.45 p.m. at Clearwater Beach in St. George's.

One of the victims told Police that he and his family were at the beach having a barbecue where he set up his portable table top gas stove which was placed on top of a portable table.

He and a woman began to use the stove when they noticed fire around the valve where the gas canister was located.

The man then tried to turn off the stove when the explosion occurred. He received first degree and second degree burns to the face and arms. The woman received second degree burns on her neck, face and both arms. The woman was released yesterday but the man remained in hospital for treatment.
