Two men were fined $1,000 each yesterday in Magistrates' Court after being picked up for impaired driving.

The court heard that Jonathan Bucy, 31, of Southampton was driving on Mullet Bay Road in St. George's on April 27, 2003 when Police noticed he was driving erratically. Officers said when he was pulled over he failed to hold up his bike.

Crown counsel Shakira Dill said Bucy told Police he was taking codeine for his finger but that they believed he had been drinking because his eyes were glazed. Bucy refused to take the breathalyser test. He was charged with driving while under the influence.

Prinston Robinson, 37, of Pembroke also appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with driving while under the influence on Somerset Road on December 1, 2001.

He was also swerving but said it was because he turned into a restaurant, realised it was closed so changed his mind and started driving to a different restaurant.

When taken to Somerset Police Station, Robinson vomited on the floor of the processing room.

"I was sick because I had eaten crab and lobster at my job earlier that day. Not because of the liquor," Robinson told the court.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves fined the men $1,000 and disqualified both from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.
