Magistrate Carlisle Greaves jailed a man for 14 days for contempt of court after he swore at him and called him a "vampire".

Troy O'Neil Robinson, 34, of Anchorage Lane, St. George's, made the outburst after he was fined $250 for damaging a police car's window or face 40 days in prison, $150 at the Airport.

Robinson shouted "I'm being fined twice? F*** you!" after Mr. Greaves added a $324.80 compensation order. Mr. Greaves - who is Acting Senior Magistrate - told him that he would be held in contempt of court for seven days.

Robinson then cursed at Mr. Greaves again when he was being led from the court and said: "You are a vampire, you need to stop your wickedness."

This landed him another seven days to run concurrently.

Crown counsel Shade Subair had told the court that on August 18 at 4.45 a.m. Robinson was in Police custody when officers were transporting him from Hamilton Police Station to the Airport Police Station. He was lying on the seat and officers asked him to sit up as another officer would sit next to him.

Robinson refused, and kicked out the window. Once officers had him in a cell, broke light bulb. Ms Subair told the court

Robinson said: "I've got nerve damage in my arm and I didn't know what was going on. I was denied all phone calls and I have been in custody for 72 hours."

He added: "Since I have been out of prison I have lost six jobs because I have been held in custody. I come out with nothing at the end of it."

Robinson added: "Every week I'm being arrested for mistaken identity and employers keep firing me because I'm sitting up in a Police Station."

While Robinson was complaining, Mr. Greaves read aloud some of Robinson's previous offences, which include assault and cycle theft.
