Bermuda is set to become an example to the rest of the world, on how to live in peace and tolerance. Friends of the United Nations (a United Nations (UN) public relations organisation) has chosen Bermuda to launch it's world arts campaign on the topic.

A host of activities and contests have been slated by local organisers of the event - Global Arts Entertainment. Focusing on the topic through children, organisers hope to relay a sense of Bermudian spirit, lifestyle and culture in a programme that will be presented at UN headquarters.

A mural created by primary school children; poetry, essay and prayer writing contests for middle and senior school students; a national forum on peace and tolerance subjects, a national peace and tolerance concert; a tennis fun day festival; a commemorative peace and tolerance coin; and a tolerance stamp are some of the major events already planned.

Winners of the various contests will represent Bermuda at an awards presentation in New York at the UN headquarters on the International Day of Tolerance, on November 16.
