Violence breaks out at vacant hotel
Two women were injured at the former Club Med site when violence broke out among a homeless group living at the mothballed hotel.
Police said trouble flared when a family argument got heated and a 14-year-old Pembroke girl was attacked by a 19-year-old Sandys woman brandishing a machete.
But the fracas continued after the alleged attacker was arrested, with another woman left nursing a forehead wound following a further argument. She declined medical treatment.
Police are now investigating the disturbances, which happened after 7 p.m. on Tuesday. One female, aged 14, who had her left arm in a sling, claimed she needed five stitches after being ?chopped? in the incident.
She said trouble started after a ?silly argument? between relatives ? and alleged she was injured stepping in as peacemaker to stop her pregnant sister getting hurt.
Police were called when she got injured. And after a suspect had been taken away, a group of one man and four women arrived, and the 14-year-old claimed the pregnant woman was then assaulted.
A Police spokesman said the Pembroke girl was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to a shoulder cut and was later released.
He said the Sandy?s parish woman and a 31-year-old Pembroke woman were arrested.
