An English engineer tried to bring nearly 20 grams of cannabis through Customs at Bermuda Airport, a court heard.
When caught red-handed, a ?nervous? Eric Peter Francois, 36, told immigration officials: ?It?s just weed.?
But he was fined $1,000 yesterday in Magistrates? Court after he admitted trying to import 18.41 grams of cannabis.
Crown counsel Wayne Caines said Francois, from Romford, England, got off a British Airways flight on September 6 when the drugs were found. As he went through Immigration, the court heard, Francois became ?nervous and fidgety?.
The defendant told the court: ?It was a mistake. It should never have really happened.?
