A 26-year-old Paget man was assaulted by two men outside Roosters Restaurant early Saturday morning.

Police were called to the Court Street restaurant at 1.10 a.m. and when they arrived they were told by people at the scene that two, young, black men wearing long, blue jeans and white t-shirts had attacked the man.

The men had struck their victim several times with a tree branch and a helmet and then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to injuries to his wrist, a one inch laceration to the back of his head, and cuts and bruises to his face.

His injuries were not considered life threatening and he was treated and later discharged from the hospital.

Police are investigating.
