What's opened, closed for Cup Match holiday

Even though Cup Match is a public holiday, customers can still go to some of their favourite grocery stores, gas stations and liquor stores to shop. Big name grocers The Market Place, Lindo's, Supermart, Miles and White's will all be closed for the public holiday. However, all of Arnold's Markets will be open for business at the same time as usual on both days of Cup Match tomorrow and Friday. Harrington Hundreds and Hayward's Supermarket will also be open.

Smaller markets like Belvin's Variety, C-Mart, Cousins Variety, Dismont Robinson Convenience Store, Howard's Mini Mart, Tony's Fine Foods, and Twins Variety will be open as well.

Apart from the Shell service station on St. John's Road in Pembroke, gas stations all over the Island from Somerset to St. David's will all be open for service. Most of them will serving customers during their usual hours with only a few closing before 5 p.m.

Most liquor stores on the Island will be open for business as well. Arnold's Liquor, Bud's Wine's and Spirits, Carousel Liquors, Court Street Liquors, and Queen Street Liquors will be open for all the last minute alcohol needs.

Bermuda Weather Service meteorologist James Morrison, said that the weather for Cup Match should be OK.

"Tropical Storm Franklin is doing some very strange things but it is expected to clear the Island by tomorrow (Thursday) but there might still be some lingering clouds, showers and possible wind associated with it in the morning," he said.

Mr. Morrison said that mostly sunny conditions are expected for Friday and the rest of the weekend. Highs are near the high 80s with light winds which will make the Island warm and humid.
