An encore run of CURE's whites-only racism workshop is set for next month.

First held in May and June under the banner "Race to Equality", the unprecedented workshop series has been renamed "Building Bridges".

Acting CURE director Leona Scott said not much else has changed in the format and purpose of the workshop.

The whites-only requirement is a departure from the dozens of interactive discussions CURE has held over the years.

CURE has found that, in general, whites have not been as open as blacks in mixed workshops and forums.

By creating a non-threatening environment to examine what it means to be white, the agency is hoping that the workshops will succeed in educating white people about racism and recruiting them to be active participants in the quest for racial equality.

The two day workshop will be held at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute December 6 and 7 from 9 am to 4.30 pm. A $20 fee will be charged and a light lunch served.
