A woman suffered minor abrasions to her legs after a motorcyclist struck her as she walked across a pedestrian crossing in Southampton on Saturday, near the junction of Middle Road and Church Road.

Police said that at around 11.30 a.m. a motorcycle was travelling west on Middle Road when it overtook a bus, which had stopped to let a pedestrian cross the road. The pedestrian, a 34-year-old Paget woman, was on the pedestrian crossing when the rider of the motorcycle attempted to avoid a collision by braking suddenly, causing the motorcycle to slide into her. The cycle rider, a 26-year-old Devonshire man, was not injured.
