Woman runs out of chances
A Pembroke woman is starting two years behind bars for breaching her probation order ? and for throwing away a ?real lifeline?.
Kyhla Symone Stowe had been given the community order after getting convicted of two breaking offences and four counts of fraud.
But Senior Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo on Monday revoked that probation order after the court heard she had not stuck to its terms and was not suitable for a drug treatment programme because of her poor attendance record.
He told the 32-year-old: ?You had all the chances one can get.
?You are unfortunately a sad example of persons who the system reaches out to try and help but you do not take advantage of it.
?You committed some serious offences violating people?s property and privacy. You were given a real lifeline.?
He told the court the defendant was given two years? probation in 1995 and a six-month suspended jail term in 1999. Mr. Tokunbo said she had been jailed for three months in 2001.
He added: ?Hopefully this experience will cause you to try another way of sustaining yourself when you come out. Try and get your life back on track.?
